Registration Now Open for 2017 Travel & Tourism Awards Luncheon

“Faces of Travel” to be recognized during local tourism week celebration

Wednesday, March 29, 2017

Tourism is big business. In Virginia Beach, the economic impact of tourism is undeniable: $1.4 billion in direct travel-related expenditures, $122 million in state and local tax revenue, and $256 million in salaries¹. Those salaries are earned by a workforce of dedicated hospitality professionals who host millions of visitors each year, and they deserve thanks.

Registration is now open for the 2017 Virginia Beach Travel & Tourism Awards luncheon. Hosted by the Virginia Beach Convention & Visitors Bureau (CVB), along with our industry partners, the awards luncheon will be held at the Virginia Beach Convention Center on May 12, 2017 in conjunction with National Travel and Tourism Week (NTTW). WAVY-TV anchor Don Roberts will serve as master of ceremonies.

Established by a congressional resolution in 1983, NTTW is dedicated to highlighting the power of travel by recognizing the millions of people nationwide who help keep the hospitality industry going strong. This year's theme is "Faces of Travel" and will shine a spotlight on the people – on the frontlines and behind the scenes – who are the driving force of the hospitality industry. In Virginia Beach, the spotlight will focus on the "best of the best" of our diverse hospitality workforce during the awards luncheon, where winners of more than 30 individual hospitality industry awards will be announced. Register online at through May 1.
