Tuesday, January 17, 2017

MATBOCK Origins, LLC, founded in Virginia Beach in 2010, is more than doubling its size to accommodate growth and innovations in product lines. MATBOCK currently occupies 4,000 square feet at 1164 Millers Lane in Virginia Beach. The company will expand to 10,000 square feet by February 2017. The expansion will create $655,000 of capital investment in the City of Virginia Beach in addition to five new jobs with average salaries of $100,000.  The Virginia Beach Development Authority awarded MATBOCK a $30,000 APZ-1 Economic Development Investment Program grant based on the company's capital investment since the location is within the YesOceana footprint.

Stock Design and Machine Inc., founded in Virginia Beach in 2015 by Robert J. Stock, a former Navy SEAL and mechanical engineer, will expand operations for the second time. The company is certified as a service-disabled, veteran-owned small business and possesses the API Spec Q1 Quality Control Specification. Located in the YesOceana corridor at 2500 Squadron Ct., units 106 and 10, the company will make a $970,000 capital investment to expand another 3,600 square feet to a total of 7,200 square feet. The Virginia Beach Development Authority has awarded Stock Design and Machine Inc. a $50,000 APZ-1 Economic Development Investment Program grant based on its investment.

MATBOCK is a development firm that brings new technologies to production. It specializes in unique military gear that increases effectiveness and decreases each warrior's load out. In the last five years, it has brought more than 20 products to the market, from night vision auto-focus goggles to the lightest and most effective medical evacuation and assault system on the market. Clients include the most professional and well-trained assault teams across the world.

"MATBOCK is an example of the new kind of advanced manufacturing," said Virginia Beach Economic Development Director Warren D. Harris. "The company is making innovative products that improve our warriors' and law enforcement personnel's ability to do their jobs and to remain as safe as possible."

The company makes products for both law enforcement and military personnel. MATBOCK also has an ownership interest in Strike Force Beverage, LLC that manufactures a liquid energy drink, and AcesoPlasma, LLC that makes an oxygen plasma generator, which could become a revolutionary medical device with multiple uses in the front line and beyond.

"We are truly honored to be working with the City of Virginia Beach Development Authority to bring more innovation and jobs to the Virginia Beach area," said Sean Matson, co-founder and CEO of MATBOCK. "With this grant money we will be able to accelerate the development of a revolutionary medical device that will save lives."

Stock Design and Machine Inc. is a full-service computer numerical control (CNC) machine shop with some of the most accurate and fastest CNC tools available. The company serves a range of industries, which include aerospace, gas and oil, and automotive to produce turnkey manufacturing, machining, design, engineering services, light assembly and fabrication.

"Virginia Beach is the ideal location for our business," said Robert J. Stock. "As a small business, we attribute much of our success to the support we've received from the city for financial assistance as well as resources to connect and improve workforce training programs for the advanced manufacturing community."

The original expansion accommodated work that was previously being outsourced overseas for General Plasma, which manufactures plasma coating lines for automobile plants around the world, and NCC Automation Systems, which builds conveyor systems for companies like Amazon Fulfillment Centers. The company is expanding again resulting from a new contract with Aquisense Technologies to manufacture its water purification containers. The company also has plans to prototype and produce the Squad Designated Marksman Assault Rifle (SDM-AR) weapon product line and specialty parts for Harley Davidson motorcycles.

"Stock Design and Machine, Inc. is creating jobs and products on American-made machines," said Warren D. Harris, director of Virginia Beach Economic Development. "We congratulate them on their phenomenal growth and commitment to Virginia Beach."
