Friday, December 16, 2016

Nominations for the 23rd Annual Human Rights Awards Program are being accepted now through Jan. 31, 2017 by the Virginia Beach Human Rights Commission (HRC). The HRC recognizes noteworthy individuals and groups who have aided in the understanding of cultural diversity and advocated for the human rights of the city's residents.

The awards committee will evaluate nominees based on community involvement, initiatives and humanitarianism. Eligible nominees are people living or working in Virginia Beach or anyone who has contributed to the promotion of human rights to benefit Virginia Beach residents.

The commission will be presenting several types of awards. "The Human Rights Commission needs your help in recognizing people in our community who work tirelessly to promote justice, fairness and diversity continuously. We look forward to your nominations," said Chairman Cliff Rice.

A nomination form must be attached to all entries, as well as two letters of endorsement to support the nomination.
