How to Donate Food, Clothes and Time to Help Your Neighbors

Some Beach residents are still struggling after Hurricane Matthew

A week after Hurricane Matthew, some Virginia Beach residents still need your help. Here's how you can assist.

         Food: Donate non-perishable food at any Virginia Beach fire station from 4 to 7 p.m. Contact the Foodbank of Southeastern Virginia for more information at (877) HUNGERX.

         Clothes: Donate clothing to the Salvation Army at 2093 General Booth Blvd. or 1136 Lynnhaven Parkway. For more information, visit

         Time: Operation Blessing is organizing volunteers to work in the community. If you would like to help, call (757) 284-9183. Volunteers will meet at CBN Corporate Support Building, 977 Centerville Turnpike, Monday through Saturday. Registration is 8 a.m., orientation is 8:30 a.m.

Volunteers should wear rubber boots and long pants for safety. You will be dispatched to work from this location. Operation Blessing will provide everything you need – work assignments, tools and lunch. Please provide your own transportation to and from the work site. No reservations are needed for daily volunteers.
