As part of its financial empowerment outreach, the city has partnered with the Financial Planning Association of Hampton Roads to help citizens prepare for retirement. The Master Your Money: Retirement Security event scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 6 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Meyera E. Oberndorf Central Library, 4100 Virginia Beach Blvd., is free and open to the public.

Featured workshops include:

5 p.m. - Planning for a Secure Retirement

6 p.m. - Social Security and You

7 p.m. - Protecting Your Interests with Estate Planning

Financial experts such as Certified Financial Planner™ professionals will meet one-on-one to offer personalized advice and to help participants develop a strategy to achieve their retirement goals. All professionals are participating as volunteers; they will not be selling products or services.
