Prepare for Hermine: Town Center Garages and Virginia Beach School Lots Are Open

Friday, September 02, 2016

People living in flood-prone areas can move their cars and trucks to higher ground at any city school parking lot and any Town Center parking garage. Town Center has more than 4,300 garage parking spots that are always free and open to the public. Cars parked in city school lots this weekend will not be ticketed or towed.

As winds pick up, residents are reminded to secure outside lawn furniture, garbage cans and other loose objects.

The city strongly encourages residents to take these additional steps.

3)         Remove and secure objects from outside your home and business that may become projectiles during high winds.

4)         Be informed. Learn more about flood risks and steps you can take to prepare. Look for emergency preparedness information on

The city encourages all individuals in the region to listen to NOAA Weather Radio and its local news to monitor for severe weather updates and directions provided by local officials.
