Climb Your Family Tree During “Moonlight Madness”

Monday, August 29, 2016

Virginia Beach Public Library (VBPL) is hosting an after-hours genealogy workshop, "Moonlight Madness," Saturday, Sept. 10, 7 to 11 p.m. at the Meyera E. Oberndorf Central Library. The program provides an opportunity for those interested in tracing their roots to have dedicated research time using physical and digital library resources, as well as to receive advice from library staff. Registration is required; visit for registration and details.

VBPL has a variety of genealogy and local history resources, both in print and online, available for use at Central Library. For more about VBPL genealogy resources, visit and select "Local History and Genealogy."

Beyond Moonlight Madness, there are a variety of classes available throughout the year. VBPL will host a two-part class on Oct. 12 & 19, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., to share tips and tricks on how to make the most of Ancestry Library and HeritageQuest. The library also hosts genealogy book tours each month to familiarize customers with resources. To find more on genealogy programs at VBPL, search the online calendar at
