Virginia Beach Law Enforcement Memorial Service

The Virginia Beach Fraternal Order of Police, Lodge #8, will hold its annual Law Enforcement Officers’ Memorial Service in front of Police Headquarters, 2509 Princess Anne Road, on Monday, May 9, 2011, at 11:00 a.m.


Mayor William D. Sessoms, Jr., will read a proclamation declaring the week of May 15-21, 2011, as Law Enforcement Appreciation Week.  The Virginia Beach Police Honor Guard will perform special duties followed by other customary activities including the riderless horse, a bagpipe tribute, a helicopter flyover, and the commemorative roll call of fallen officers.  Members of the Police and Sheriff’s Departments and the Fraternal Order of Police Auxiliary will be participating in the ceremony.  The keynote speaker will be the Honorable Jeffery L. McWaters, Senator of Virginia.


The Virginia Beach Law Enforcement Memorial Service is held each year to honor those officers who made the ultimate sacrifice serving and protecting the citizens of Virginia Beach.  Law enforcement officers, the public, and the media are encouraged to attend this esteem honor in memory of the fallen officers and their families.

Drape badge on Sunday, May 9, at 0001 hrs. through 2400 hrs.

Dress blouse and hat for lieutenant and above

Uniform of the day for officers (hat encouraged)


In honor of National Law Enforcement Week, badges will be draped Sunday, May 15, at 0001 hrs. through Saturday, May 21, at 2400 hrs.
