​The heat of summer continues and Virginia Beach Parks & Recreation has some “cool” stuff planned to keep you and your family active and entertained!

Movie Nights at Mount Trashmore  (Aug 12 and 26 | activities begin at 7 pm | Mount Trashmore Park)
Enjoy major motion picture Home on August 12, and The Peanuts Movie on August 26 under the stars! Bring blankets and beach chairs to get comfortable as you watch these family-favorites on our giant screen. Concessions will be available for purchase by local food trucks.

Sunday Fundays  (Aug 14 and 28 | 12 to 3 pm | Mount Trashmore Park)
Gather your family and friends for some laid-back fun at Mount Trashmore Park! We'll have lawn games and activities for all ages to play while listening and dancing to music by our DJ. Bring your appetite because some of the best Eat the Streets 757 Food Trucks will be serving up incredibly tasty fare (available for purchase.) 

Aloha Back to School Festival  (Aug 26 | 1 to 4 pm | Williams Farm Recreation Center)
Bring the family out for fun activities, inflatables, refreshments, giveaways & more. End summer on a high note and start the school year off on the right foot!

Rock Wall Family Fun  (Aug 12 | 5:30 to 7:30 pm | ages 6 & up | Seatack Recreation Center | $5)
Challenge yourself and bring the whole family for a session of rock climbing on our indoor vertical wall. Conquer your fears, test your limits, and just have a great time. Beginners to advanced are welcome! Sign up today.

Float-a-Ramas
Aug 17 | 1 to 4 pm | all ages | Great Neck Rec Center
Aug 21 | 1 to 4 pm | all ages | Bayside Rec Center
Take the plunge! Grab your suits and dive in to get refreshed in our indoor pools. We’ll have our giant-sized floats out for all to enjoy. No registration is required and there is no additional cost to participate. 

Full Moon Paddle
 (Aug 18 (rain date Aug 19) | 7 to 9 pm | ages 12 & up | Stumpy Lake Natural Area | $30)

Stumpy Lake Natural Area is known for its serene setting, unique trees, and abundant wildlife. Kayaking this area by the light of the full moon only adds to its ambiance and appeal! Join us for an evening paddle to take in the wonder of the sunset and moonrise during this incredible experience. Tandem kayaks, paddles, and life jackets provided. Those under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Register before this popular excursion sells out!

Bayside Senior Dance Party
 (Aug 19 | 6 to 8:30 pm | ages 50 & up | Bayside Rec Center | $10)
Our DJ will be spinning hits from rock to blues and Motown while participants dance the night away! Light refreshments will also be served. Dancers should register by August 12.

Movie in the Pool: Zootopia  (Aug 26 | 6 to 8 pm | all ages | Princess Anne Rec Center)
Summer is the perfect time to enjoy floating in a pool…and why not enjoy an awesome movie at the same time? Suit up and float on in to see Zootopia on our inflatable screen while you leisurely enjoy the water. No registration is required and there is no additional cost to participate.
