Virginia Beach Parks & Recreation has an incredible lineup of events for everyone to enjoy in July, as we continue to celebrate our 60th anniversary. Come one, come all, and come ready for fun!

July 4th Celebration
(July 4 | 4 to 10 pm; Fireworks at 9:30 pm | Mount Trashmore Park | $5 parking fee)

Celebrate America’s independence with live music by Rachel Rocheleau and Cheap Thrills, delicious foods, and of course, booming fireworks! Please note that when parking lots at Mount Trashmore Park are full, Edwin Drive between Independence Boulevard and South Boulevard may close.

Free Fitness Classes & Les Mills Launch Week
(July 11 to 16 | class times and locations vary)

Join us for select FREE drop-in group fitness classes as we celebrate the launch of our new Premier Membership! This membership option includes all of the benefits of a recreation center membership plus unlimited drop-in group fitness classes. We’re also launching new choreography for many of our hugely popular Les Mills classes this week. Visit for the schedule of free classes and launches being offered. Membership is not required for these free classes.

PumpTrack Demo
(July 19 | 3 to 6 pm | Williams Farm Park)

American Ramp Company is coming to Virginia Beach and setting up an all-wheel pumptrack for you to try out. A pumptrack is a structure that uses an up and down ‘pumping’ motion to propel bikes, skateboarders or even scooters forward. Pumptracks are perfect for practicing balance, learning skills and improving confidence, plus a blast to ride. This event is open to all ages and skill levels, so bring your bike, skateboard, or scooter and join us for some fun. Event is weather permitting and will not be rescheduled. Summer Movie Night Series: Minions
(July 22 | 7 to 10 pm; movie starts at sundown | Mount Trashmore Park)

Enjoy our first movie night of the summer as we view "Minions" under the stars. Bring blankets and beach chairs to get comfortable as you watch this family-favorite on our giant screen. Concessions will be available for purchase. Check out our Facebook event.

Sunday RUNday at Mount Trashmore
(July 24 | 8 am to 3 pm | Mount Trashmore Park)

We're hosting our first-ever Sunday RUNday, a family fitness extravaganza, followed by our hugely-popular Sunday Funday celebration. It’s our 60th anniversary, and the DJ is getting the party started with a fitness dance party, lawn games, food trucks, sack races, and bounce houses. The event features the Virginia Beach Parks & Recreation Foundation (VBPRF) Race Series: 5K, Kids Fun Run, and Family Fitness Walk/Run. For information on the races and to register, please visit

Sunday Funday Series: 60th Anniversary Edition
(July 24 | 11 am to 3 pm | Mount Trashmore Park)

Gather your family and friends for some laid-back fun at Mount Trashmore Park. We'll have games, bounce houses, and activities for all ages, along with a DJ. Bring your appetite because some of the best Eat the Streets 757 Food Trucks will be serving up delicious eats! This special date will also feature a family fitness dance party presented by our incredible VBPR instructors bringing you Zumba and MixxedFit come ready to shake it! RSVP on our Facebook event

Virginia Beach Parks & Recreation 60th Anniversary Bash
(July 31 | 12:30 to 4 pm | all recreation centers)

The recreation centers are throwing a party! We welcome all members and those with day passes to join us as we celebrate 60 years as a department. The day will include music, pool parties with fun floats, bounce houses, dodgeball, Nerf wars, arts and crafts, fitness dance demos - and of course, sweet treats.

There are tons of additional events happening in our recreation centers in July, including float-a-ramas, movie night in the pool, a senior dance party, and family pickleball night. Visit for all the details.
