Join Virginia Beach Parks & Recreation on July 24 for a day of fit fun including a 5K for only $20!

To celebrate its 60th anniversary, Virginia Beach Parks & Recreation is hosting its first Sunday RUNday in partnership with the Virginia Beach Parks & Recreation Foundation (VBPRF). It’s a family event centered around health and fitness, featuring the VBPRF Race Series which includes a 5K, Kids Fun Run, and Family Fitness Run/Walk. The races will be followed by the hugely-popular Sunday Funday featuring Eat the Streets 757 Food Trucks. The DJ will keep the party going with a fitness dance party, lawn games, sack races, and bounce houses. For more details, visit VBgov.com/SundayRUNday. 


Race Events:

Virginia Beach Parks & Recreation Foundation 5K | 8 am start time | $20 registration fee before July 24; $30 day-of registration fee (if space remains)

This is a timed event. Awards will be given to the top three male and female finishers. Register by July 15 to guarantee a limited edition Sunday RUNday t-shirt! Participants registered by June 30 will also be entered into a drawing for a $100 Parks & Recreation gift card - good towards a rec center membership or other Parks & Rec programs.

Kids Fun Run – One Mile | 9:30 am start time | FREE

Children will run in waves and parents are welcome to join. This is a free, timed event. Awards will be given to the top boy and girl finisher in the following age groups: 5-7; 8-10; 11-13; and 14-17.  All youth finishers for the Kids Fun Run will receive a commemorative Sunday RUNday medal. 

Family Fitness Walk/Run – One Mile | 10 am | FREE

Join us as we celebrate family fitness and healthy lifestyles! This is a non-competitive, untimed event, perfect for all athletic abilities. 

Additionally, we are seeking volunteers to assist with water stations, course coverage, and finish line activities on July 24 from 7:30 to 11 am. Interested volunteers can sign up on the website. All volunteers will receive a t-shirt. 

Post-Race Party:

Family Fitness Dance Party | 11 am

Following the awards ceremony, Parks & Recreation fitness instructors will get things popping as we shake it with some funky Zumba and MixxedFit moves. 

Sunday Funday Anniversary Edition | 11 am - 3 pm

The DJ keeps it rocking as we celebrate in the park with lawn games, food trucks, sack races, and bounce houses. Bring your appetite because some of the best Eat the Streets 757 Food Trucks will be serving up incredible bites to refuel you after the morning’s activities.
