Kick Off Summer with Virginia Beach Parks & Recreation

June brings host of activities to get active, and celebrate dads

​School is almost out and Virginia Beach Parks & Recreation has an awesome lineup of June events to usher in the summer. Outdoors and indoors, join us as we kick off a new season and celebrate the incredible dads in our community!

Mount Trashmore Summer Carnival (June 3 to 21 | hours vary | Mount Trashmore Park)
Rides, games, and delicious fair foods are all available at the Summer Carnival at Mount Trashmore. Located in the parking lot off of Edwin Drive, the carnival is great for all ages and offers free admission and free parking. For hours, ride information, and prices, visit VBgov.com/carnival.

Party at the Pier presented by Siebert Realty (June 17 (rain date June 18) | 7 - 10 pm | Little Island Park & Fishing Pier)
Kick off your shoes and join us for a concert in the sand with live music from The Rhondels plus food trucks and dancing! If you love beach music, then this party is for you. Food available for purchase from Keep It Poppin', Get Stuffed, Pelican SnoBalls and Gator Jack. Onsite parking is available and free after 5 pm. 

Seatack Summer Open House (June 20 | 10 am - 2 pm | Seatack Rec Center)
Come out to enjoy all of Seatack’s amenities including the pool, climbing wall, weight room, gym, and game room at no cost. There also will be a sports inflatable, games, and hot dogs.

First Friday Art Attack – Squirt Gun Fun (June 3 | 6 – 7:30 pm | ages 6 to 14 | Great Neck Rec Center)
Are you ready for an art attack? The first Friday of each month, we invite you to join us for a special project and June’s creation will include unconventional methods using squirt guns to create an abstract masterpiece! No additional cost or registration required!​

Father’s Day Card & Crafts (June 11 | 10 – 11:30 am | ages 3 to 8 | Bow Creek Rec Center) 
Handmade gifts are always the most special! Sign the kids up to make a Father’s Day gift that dad will never forget. Supplies will be provided. Children 5 and under must be accompanied by a parent. Register by June 4. Cost is $6 per participant.

School’s Out Party and a Movie (June 17 | 6 – 8:30 pm | ages 6 to 13 | Seatack Rec Center)
Friday, June 17 • 6:00 pm - 8:30 pm | Seatack Rec Center
Celebrate the end of the school year with an ice cream social, popcorn and a movie! Ages 6 to 8 must be accompanied by an adult. No registration required.

Daddy & Me Father’s Day Fitness Party (June 18 | 1 – 3 pm | Williams Farm Rec Center)
Happy Father’s Day! Wear your athletic gear and enjoy a fun-filled fitness day of activities and challenges with dad. Refreshments and healthy snacks will be provided. Register by June 15. Cost is $6 per participant.

Father’s Day Free Throw Contest (June 18 | 9:30 – 11:30 am | ages 10 & up | Bayside Rec Center)
Team up with dad on his special day, while enjoying little family fun. This contest will test your skills and shooting ability from the charity stripe. Awards will be given to the top two finishers. Participants must sign up with a parent to join.
