Virginia Beach Parks & Recreation Offers Special Discount to Military Families in May

During National Military Appreciation Month in May, Virginia Beach Parks & Recreation is celebrating and honoring all those who have served and are currently serving, as well as their families. A military ID (active duty, retiree, or dependent) or DD-214 must be shown to receive the offers below. Details can be found by visiting vbgov.com/military.


Free Admission to Virginia Beach Recreation Centers


During Military Appreciation Week from May 16-22, members of the military and their families will receive free admission to all six Virginia Beach Recreation Centers. Fitness enthusiasts will enjoy the cardio/weight training areas and group fitness studios. Families will appreciate the indoor swimming pools, large gymnasiums and game rooms.


Buy One Hour, Get One Free on Kayak Rentals


Explore the waterways of Munden Point Park, Little Island Park, and Stumpy Lake Natural Area. Pay for an hour and get an extra hour of paddling for free! Life jackets and paddles will be provided with rentals. View rental hours at vbgov.com/military for dates and times.


Congress designated May as National Military Appreciation Month in 1999 to ensure the nation was given the opportunity to honor our service members. This very important month honors, remembers, recognizes and appreciates all military personnel; those men and women who have served throughout our history and all who now serve in uniform and their families as well as those Americans who have given their lives in defense of our freedoms we all enjoy today.
