Two Utility Projects to Affect Resort Traffic March 21 to April 8

Wednesday, March 16, 2016

From March 21 to April 8, utility projects at the Oceanfront will affect traffic in two locations: Pacific Avenue between 24th and 25th Street, and Arctic Avenue at 20th Street.

Northbound lanes on Pacific Avenue will be closed between 24th and 25th Street while Inlet Construction, under contract with the Department of Public Utilities, installs a sanitary sewer gravity main. Northbound traffic will be re-routed to Atlantic Avenue.

Arctic Avenue will be closed at the 20th Street intersection while Gaston Brothers Utilities, under contract with the Department of Public Utilities, installs a sanitary sewer gravity main.

During construction, the Amtrak bus station and Hampton Roads Transportation bus transfer station at 19th Street and Arctic will be relocated to 19th Street and Pacific Avenue.

Advance warning signs will be posted advising motorists of these utility projects and detours. Weather permitting, both projects are expected to be completed by April 8.
