Two Road Projects in Virginia Beach to Begin on Tuesday

Monday, March 14, 2016

Two roadway improvement projects in Virginia Beach will begin on Tuesday, March 15, 2016:  1) Pleasure House Road, from Shore Drive to Northampton Boulevard; and 2) Baker Road, from Wesleyan Drive to Northampton Boulevard.

Both projects will include milling, paving and pavement marking work. The Pleasure House Road project is expected to be completed by March 25, 2016.  The Baker Road project is expected to be completed by April 2, 2016.

Hours for both operations are from 7 p.m. until 5 a.m. on weeknights.  If any daytime paving and marking work is needed during the week, the hours will be from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m.

If crews need to work on a weekend, the hours for operations will be from 7 a.m. until 5 p.m.

The project and the milling and paving operation is likely to produce traffic delays, congestion and some construction noise.  Advanced warning signs will be clearly posted advising motorists of lane closures.

Citizens are urged to use alternate traffic routes when possible.

All scheduled work is weather permitting.
