Cherry Blossom Festival
April 2, 2016 | 12:30 - 4:30 pm | Red Wing Park

The Sister Cities of Virginia Beach and Miyazaki, Japan, invite you to celebrate spring, peace, and goodwill during the blossom season. Enjoy our 11th year of traditional Japanese music, dance, arts and martial arts demonstrations.

Touch-a-Truck
April 16, 2016 | 12 - 3 pm | Princess Anne Recreation Center

Experience the thrill of sitting in the Virginia Beach Fire Department’s monster truck, a police car, a street sweeper, dump truck and more! Attractions include face painting, children’s craft activities, and a DJ. The first 100 kids (ages 12 and under) at the event will receive a free gift.

Earth Day

SPLASH: Swim. Play. Learn. Autism Safety in H2O
April 23 | 10 am - 12:30 pm | Great Neck Rec Center | ages 5 to 21, families with autism)

Free water safety event for individuals with autism. Parents are welcome to participate alongside their child. Experience both in-water and on-land water safety scenarios while learning basic aquatic skills. Scenarios include pool rules, boating safety, and assisting others using basic techniques. Swim suits required. Register with the Autism Society at Meetup.com/tidewater-autism. Non-meetup members, please email Angel.Barnhill@tidewaterasa.org.

Golden Moments Talent Show
April 13 | 10 am - 1 pm | Williams Farm Rec Center | ages 60 & up

We are inviting those with gifts of music, dance, poetry, and comedy to share their talent. Judges will award 1st, 2nd and 3rd place prizes. Lunch is included. Performers must register by March 30 (please call 385-2950). Performer cost is $5. Audience cost is $7.

Get Your Glow On! Teen Glow Party on the Sprayground
April 29 | 6 - 8 pm | Williams Farm Rec Center | ages 10 – 17

Light up the night! The music is pumping and we’ll have fun light-up games with plenty of glow sticks.

Day at the Park
April 1 | 1 – 3 pm | Seatack Rec Center | ages 8 – 14

On the last day of Spring Break, stop and smell the flowers during a walk to Seatack Park, where we will enjoy games and good food! No additional cost but you must register before Spring Break.

Spring Break Scavenger Hunt
April 1 | 3 - 4 pm | Princess Anne Rec Center | ages 8 – 12

It’s time for a Scavenger Hunt! The clues may be right before your eyes. No additional cost.

Spring Break's End of Week Movie
April 1 | 6 - 8 pm | Williams Farm Rec Center | ages 6 – 12/under 5 with a parent

Wind down the Spring Break week with a movie and popcorn. No additional cost.

Movie Night in the Pool: Madagascar
April 1 | 6 - 8 pm | Seatack Rec Center | all ages/ages 9 and under must be directly supervised by someone aged 16 or older

Enjoy a special feature while floating in the pool. No additional cost.

Family Pickleball Night
April 6 | 6 - 8 pm | Seatack Rec Center | ages 8 and up

The sport of pickleball shares features of other racquet sports, the dimensions and layout of a badminton court, and a net and rules similar to tennis. Fine-tune your skills with an experienced instructor or learn the rules and techniques for the first time. Equipment provided. No additional cost.

Float-a-Rama
April 10 | 1 - 4 pm | Princess Anne Rec Center

It’s a day of huge, fun floats that are so big the pool is devoted just to them. Enjoy Claw Daddy, Sky Totter, Space Mountain and many more. No additional cost.

School’s Out Early Party
April 12 | 1 - 5 pm | Williams Farm Rec Center | ages 6 – 10

Enjoy a fun afternoon with gym activities and a pizza party. Cost is $12 per participant.

Pet Owner's Day Celebration
April 18 | 6:30 - 7:30 pm | Williams Farm Rec Center | ages 6 – 12

Celebrate your appreciation for our lovely best friends whether it is a bird, dog, cat, horse, iguana or fish. Bring pictures of your pets and we will create a collage of our community pets. The recreation center will display the banner for Pet Week from May 1 - 7. No additional cost.

Light Side vs. Dark Side Nerf Battle
April 29 | 6:30 - 8 pm | Bow Creek Rec Center | ages 8 – 14

The force is strong with our members! Come dressed as your favorite Star Wars™ character for this all-out Nerf War to protect the Bow Creek universe. Register by Apr 23. Cost is $4 per participant.

Mother’s Day Card & Crafts
April 30 | 10 - 11:30 am | Bow Creek Rec Center | ages 3 – 8/ children 5 and under must be accompanied by a parent

Make a homemade Mother’s day gift she will never forget. Supplies provided. Register by Apr 23. Cost is $6 per participant.
