City Adds Additional Dates for Free Tax-Prep Help: March 24 and 25

Tuesday, March 08, 2016

The Virginia Beach Human Services Department is promoting free tax preparation as a part of its financial empowerment outreach, and will host several in-person help sessions for qualified residents and employees. Households with an income of $62,000 or less are qualified and can e-file both their federal and state taxes at no cost. Individuals can complete their own taxes with assistance from an IRS-trained volunteer.

Volunteers will be on site to assist qualifying citizens March 24 and 25, from 1 to 5 p.m., at the Human Services Department resource lab, 3432 Virginia Beach Blvd.

Qualified residents and employees should bring: Social Security or individual taxpayer identification number (ITIN) for each family member and working adult, 1095-A (if a tax credit from healthcare.gov marketplace was received), childcare provider’s name, address and tax ID (if applicable), checking or savings account bank routing and account numbers, last year’s tax return (if a copy is available) and a valid email address.
