Get Free Tax-Prep Help on Feb. 11, 12, 25 and 26

Friday, February 05, 2016

The Virginia Beach Human Services Department is promoting free tax preparation as a part of its financial empowerment outreach, and will host several in-person help sessions for qualified residents and employees. Households with incomes of $62,000 or less qualify and can e-file their federal and state taxes at no cost. Individuals can complete their own taxes with assistance from IRS-trained volunteers.

IRS-trained and certified volunteers will be on site Feb. 11, 12, 25 and 26 from 1 to 5 p.m. at the Human Services Department resource lab, 3432 Virginia Beach Blvd., to assist qualifying citizens.

Qualified residents and employees should bring Social Security or individual taxpayer identification numbers (ITIN) for each family member and working adult, 1095-A (if a tax credit from healthcare.gov marketplace was received), childcare provider’s name, address and tax ID (if applicable), checking or savings account bank routing and account numbers, last year’s tax return (if a copy is available) and a valid email address.
