Author Rashod Ollison Talks “Soul Serenade” at Virginia Beach’s Central Library

​Award-winning pop music critic, culture journalist and Hampton Roads resident Rashod Ollison will talk about his just-released debut book, “Soul Serenade: Rhythm, Blues & Coming of Age Through Vinyl,” at Virginia Beach’s Meyera E. Oberndorf Central Library, Saturday, Feb. 27, from 2 to 4 p.m.

Ollison has covered music and culture for a variety of publications including “The Virginian-Pilot,” “The Dallas Morning News,” “The Philadelphia Inquirer,” “The Baltimore Sun” and “Jet” magazine. In “Soul Serenade” Ollison explores his lifelong connection to soul music and how it sustained him as he grew up in central Arkansas in the 1980s and 1990s.
