Bayside Legacy to be Explored on Bayside Heritage Day, May 21

Take a trip back in time and explore the unique history of Bayside on Bayside Heritage Day, Saturday, May 21 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.  As you hike or bike along the Bayside History Trail, you will gain insight into how the area along the Lynnhaven River was settled.  You will be able to visit historic buildings that are not regularly open to the public and earn a souvenir pin to commemorate the day.

Bayside Heritage Day is a perfect event for families, scouts and groups to discover the interesting and varied history of this area of Virginia Beach. The historic Bayside buildings offering tours and activities during the event include Morning Star Baptist Church, the Adam Thoroughgood House, the Chapel at Haygood United Methodist Church, the Lynnhaven House, Old Donation Episcopal Church, Ferry Plantation House and Pembroke Manor House.

Visitors may pick up “passports” at any of the seven participating historic sites and at the Bayside Area Library, 936 Independence Blvd.  Passports will be stamped at the historic sites on the day of the event.  The first 250 people to return completed passports by 4 p.m. to the Bayside Library will receive a commemorative pin.  This event is free and open to the public.  For more information, call (757) 460-7109.
