Virginia Beach Citizens to Observe National Homeless Persons’ Memorial Day on Dec. 21

Wednesday, December 02, 2015

Virginia Beach citizens are invited to observe the National Homeless Persons’ Memorial Day on Monday, Dec. 21 at 7 p.m. at the Lighthouse Center, 825 18th St.

Mayor Will Sessoms will proclaim this as a special day of remembrance for homeless people who have died during the past year, as well as the needs for all of our homeless. He joins with the staff of the Lighthouse Center (Volunteers of America) and the Virginia Beach Human Rights Commission.

The annual service marks the efforts of the City to end homelessness, working closely with the Volunteers of America and the Virginia Beach Department of Housing and Neighborhood Preservation.

As the Lighthouse Center prepares for this celebration, it invites members of the community to donate blankets and white socks, much needed items during this season.
