Virginia Beach Parks & Recreation Presents Festive Fall Activities This October

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - The change of seasons is always an exciting time, and Virginia Beach Parks & Recreation has a calendar full of active and festive events to keep you busy. From tots to seniors, there’s an activity for all ages and abilities that will make you fall in love with what we have to offer!

The following events and activities require a recreation center membership or day pass unless otherwise noted:


Cornhole Extravaganza (October 3 | 10 to 11:30 a.m. | Age 8 & up | $4 | Bow Creek Recreation Center) 
Get your game face on and grab your family and neighbors for our first Cornhole Extravaganza. Face off against each other in some bag tossing fun! Register by September 27.


Les Mills’ Fitness Launches (October 5 to 10 | Various times and locations)
Don’t miss your chance to try out some of our incredible Les Mills’ fitness classes for FREE (no membership, day pass, or registration required.) We’re launching new choreography for BODYSTEP, BODYCOMBAT, BODYFLOW, BORN TO MOVE, and CXWORX. For the schedule and locations, visit VBgov.com/Fitness.


Rock Wall Fun: Get Hooked on Climbing (October 9 | 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. | Age 6 & up | $4 | Seatack Recreation Center) 
Bring the whole family for a fun session of rock climbing on our vertical wall – unique to our Seatack center. Two belayers will assist climbers up and down. All skill levels from beginner to advanced are welcome. Register now!  


Kayak Tour (October 10 | 1 to 3 p.m. | $20 | Munden Point Park)
Join our amazing staff guides for an easy paddle down Oakum Creek, a tributary of the North Landing River. This is the last kayak tour of our season, so don’t miss it. Rain date is October 11. No membership or day pass required. Register today!


Forever Young Luau (October 21 |10 a.m. to 1 p.m. | $7 | Age 60 &up |Williams Farm Recreation Center)
Join our incredible group of active seniors in the Forever Young program’s City Wide Luau. We’re taking a fantasy voyage to the islands and we’ll have delicious food, fun activities, and plenty of comradery to enjoy. Register by October 14.


Zombie Nerf®: The Outbreak (October 23 | 6:30 to 8 p.m. | Ages 8 to 13 | $4 | Bow Creek Recreation Center)
Zombies wanted! Come dressed in your best living-dead outfit and test your battle skills at this all-out Nerf® apocalypse! Register by October 16.


The Great Halloween Hunt (October 24 | 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. | Age 2 to 12 |Bayville Farms Park) 
Come dressed in your Halloween best to one of our signature parks for a howling good time! There will be face painting, crafts, and of course, the Halloween Hunt. Free and open to the public. No membership, day pass, or registration required.


Seatack Spooktacular (October 29 | 6 to 7:30 p.m. | Age 5 to 10 | $3 | Seatack Recreation Center) 
Join us for a Spooktacular time of fun activities, ghost stories, s'mores and Halloween candy. Costumes are welcomed, but not required. Register today!


Monster Mash (October 30 | 10 to 11:30 a.m. | Age 6 & under | $6 | Bow Creek Recreation Center) 
Put on your scariest, cutest, or silliest costume and come ready to dance, craft, and enjoy hot apple cider with us. Registration available now!


Hallows Eve Costume Dance (October 30 | 6 to 8 p.m. | Age 10 & under with parent/guardian | $6 | Great Neck Recreation Center) 
Have a haunting good time and dance the night away. There will be light snacks, craft, spooky activities, and plenty of monster mashing! Register by Oct 23.
