Commonwealth v. Richard Allen Salayi Jr.; Over 21 Years in Prison for 25 Counts of Possess Child Pornography

Tuesday, August 25, 2015

Colin D. Stolle, Commonwealth’s Attorney for the city of Virginia Beach, announced that Richard Allen Salayi, 38 years old, formerly of the 3200 block of Clubhouse Road in Virginia Beach, Virginia, was sentenced today by Circuit Court Judge Steven C. Frucci for 25 counts of Possession of Child Pornography. Judge Frucci sentenced Salayi to 125 years in prison with 103 years and 8 months suspended leaving 21 years and 4 months to serve.

Salayi pled guilty on March 4, 2015.  Had this matter gone to trial, the Commonwealth’s evidence would have proven that in October 2013, the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children and Internet Crimes Against Children Bedford began investigating Richard Allen Salayi Jr. for possession of child pornography. On March 7, 2014, Virginia Beach Police Department investigators executed a search warrant on Salayi’s home in Virginia Beach.  They located numerous child pornography images on CDs and his cell phone and took him into custody.  When interviewed by investigators, Salayi admitted to possessing the images but claimed that he planned to “collect information” on offending websites to eventually deliver to law enforcement.
