(Virginia Beach, VA) – Kayaking, paddle boarding, pools, games, food and other fun? Sounds like the makings of an incredible adventure vacation, but don’t bother packing a bag, because you don’t even have to leave the 757! Virginia Beach Parks & Recreation has you covered with everything you need for a staycation that your entire family will remember forever! We’ve assembled a list of the top activities available this summer, right here at home.

Some of the incredible opportunities for family-friendly recreation include:

• Cooling off in one of our recreation center pools.
• Picking up a racquet for a game…or two…of Pickleball.
• Reaching new heights with one of our indoor climbing walls at the Seatack or Great Neck Recreation Centers.
• Enjoying the sunshine and amenities like kayak launches, basketball courts, disk golf, and playgrounds at one of our 265 parks.
• Strapping on your helmet for a bike ride on over 100 miles of bikeways and trails.
• Paddling the scenic waterways at Munden Point Park, Stumpy Lake Natural Area, or Little Island Park.

Get started planning your staycation by downloading the free VB ParkFinder app to search for parks and filter by amenities and events. For activities in our recreation centers, non-members may purchase a day pass at a cost of $8 per adult and $6 per child. Virginia Beach residents can join for unlimited access at all of our centers for just $12 per month!

We’re also excited to provide some spectacular special events for the family to enjoy. The schedule includes:

• June 19: Party at the Pier – A free concert at the Little Island Fishing Pier, presented in partnership with Siebert Realty, featuring live music by The Rhondels.
• June 28: Sunday Funday Series featuring Eat the Streets 757 Food Trucks – Astro Entertainment will be spinning the tunes for a fun afternoon of delicious food and family games at Mount Trashmore Park.
• July 31: Summer Movie Night Series – Brought to you in partnership with Checkered Flag Toyota; bring your blankets and popcorn as we’ll be showing Disney’s Frozen under the stars.
