Commonwealth v. James Milton Johnson IV; Child Molester to Serve 44 Years in Prison

Tuesday, June 09, 2015

Colin D. Stolle, Commonwealth’s Attorney for the city of Virginia Beach, announced that James Milton Johnson IV, 34 years old, formerly of Virginia Beach, Virginia, was sentenced today by Circuit Court Judge Glenn R. Croshaw for Aggravated Sexual Battery, Object Sexual Penetration, and two (2) counts of Custodial Indecent Liberties. Judge Croshaw sentenced Johnson to 90 years in prison with 46 years suspended leaving 44 years to serve.

Johnson pled guilty on November 18, 2014.  Had this matter gone to trial, the Commonwealth’s evidence would have proven that in Virginia Beach during a two-year period, Johnson sexually molested a minor known to him.  The abuse was discovered when Johnson began sending inappropriate messages over social media to another minor.  This minor reported the communication, and police began investigating. Johnson confessed to the abuse with the first minor and the inappropriate contact with the second minor.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney Christopher M. Baker. Please contact Macie Pridgen if additional information is desired.
