City Asks Citizens to Report Hurricane Damage

The City of Virginia Beach is asking citizens to report damage to their homes, businesses, cars or other property from Hurricane Irene either by calling the city’s 311 information line or logging on to and filling out the “Hurricane Irene Damage Report” form located in the Hot Topics box (upper right-hand area of the webpage).


Citizens will be asked to provide the location, type of damage experienced, contact information and an estimation of how severe the damage is.  Damage must be as a result of Hurricane Irene on Saturday, Aug. 27 and/or Sunday, Aug. 28.  This information will be used by officials to accurately determine the extent of the damage from the powerful coastal storm.


For the most up-to-date information regarding Hurricane Irene citizens are urged to stay tuned to local television and radio stations as well as the outlets listed below:

  • City’s VBTV Channels: Cox Cable 46, 47 & 48 and Verizon Cable 45, 46 & 47 will display emergency information including our City operational status and facilities closure notices
  • Television Channels: WTKR 3, WAVY 10 and WVEC 13
  • Local radio stations
