Elbow Road Bridge Closure - April 13, 2015

Thursday, April 02, 2015

Virginia Beach Public Works will be closing the Elbow Road Bridge (between Salem Road and Round Hill Drive) to perform required maintenance and repairs.

The bridge closure will begin Monday, April 13, 2015, and will remain closed to traffic for the duration of the maintenance and repair activities. Traffic will be detoured and a map that shows the detour routes is attached below.

The City’s contractor will start repairs on April 13, 2015, and will be working 24 hour days to expedite the maintenance and repair activity. Current estimate of length of closure is ten days. Variable message board signs will be placed in advance to inform the public.

All work is weather permitting.

This road closure is likely to produce traffic delays, congestion and some construction noise. Advanced warning and detour signs will be clearly posted advising motorists of the road closure and detour route. Citizens are urged to schedule their commutes accordingly to avoid delays.
