Virginia Beach Rec Centers and Libraries to Close at 7 Tonight

Offices and Facilities to Remain Closed Until at Least 10 a.m. Friday

Thursday, March 05, 2015

Due to the pending storm, all City of Virginia Beach recreation centers and libraries will close today at 7 p.m. The Joint-Use Library on the campus of Tidewater Community College will close at 4 p.m., along with the rest of campus.

Because of icy conditions, all city offices and facilities will have delayed openings tomorrow, Friday, March 6, until 10 a.m. That includes all parks, libraries, recreation centers and the Virginia Aquarium. City leaders will assess conditions early tomorrow morning to determine whether to further delay the openings.

No decision has been made about residential trash and recycle pickups at this time. Please plan on placing your Friday collection containers at the curb.

As a reminder, sledding is not allowed at Mount Trashmore Park.

Alpha I employees should contact their supervisor for reporting responsibilities. Alpha II employees should report at 10 a.m. Friday or at the scheduled time thereafter. Based on individual circumstances, employees may request leave approval from their supervisors for the remainder of the day Friday.
