Commence the Christmas Season with the Yule Log Lighting

​(Virginia Beach, VA) - Begin and end the holiday season with the Virginia Beach History Museums. The festivities begin with the lighting of the Yule Log at the Adam Thoroughgood House on Dec. 14 from 4 to 5:30 p.m.

The lighting of the log will take place promptly at 4 p.m. amid toasts and merry wishes. Immediately following the lighting, visitors can learn the interesting history of “marsh mallows” while roasting them over the fire. Guests can also join costumed interpreters in the Thoroughgood House and hear about Christmas traditions from centuries past. Out on the front lawn, guests can create pinecone ornaments to decorate their home and practice dance steps for the 29th Annual Twelfth Night celebration at the Francis Land House on Jan. 6 from 6 to 9 p.m.

Admission to the Yule Log Lighting is free. In case of rain, the Lighting of the Yule Log will take place on Dec. 15 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Please call (757) 385-5100 for more information.

The Virginia Beach History Museums include the Francis Land House, Adam Thoroughgood House, Lynnhaven House, and Princess Anne County Training School/Union Kempsville High School Museum.
