Register Now for Fourth Annual Virginia Beach Financial Planning Day

Planning for your financial future just got easier. The City of Virginia Beach invites you to participate in the fourth annual Financial Planning Day, where you’ll receive free, personalized, confidential answers from professional financial experts. The event will be held Saturday, Oct. 18, from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Virginia Beach Convention Center, 1000 19th St.

There are no strings attached! The participating professionals are there as volunteers. They will not sell products or services, give out business cards or collect your personal information. Pre-registration is encouraged and a little preparation will help you get the most out of the day.

    • While on the site, refer to the Financial Planning Topics to learn more about topics and questions you can address with financial planners. Make a list of your questions.

As part of the Virginia Beach Mayor’s Action Challenge, Financial Planning Day is organized by the Human Services Department in partnership with the Financial Planning Association of Hampton Roads. Financial experts such as Certified financnial Plannerprofessionals, credit counselors, career counselors, and accountants volunteer their time and expertise to meet one-on-one with participants. They are there to address your individual needs and will offer free personalized advice on a variety of financial topics, including getting out of debt, improving your credit score, retirement planning, investment strategies, tax issues, insurance, estate planning and other questions you may have.    


The event will also feature a series of free classroom-style workshop presentations addressing key financial planning topics, including building credit, affordable healthcare, paying for higher education, retirement planning, financial recovery after divorce, military and veterans planning and financial planning basics for single parents. Resource partners will be on site with materials and handouts. Experts will help you obtain an estimate of retirement savings needed and review your annual credit report. Financial Planning Day is a national outreach initiative of the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards, Financial Planning Association, Foundation for Financial Planning and the United States Conference of Mayors.
