Grommet Island Park to be closed October 6-8

Park closed due to surface maintenance repairs

(Virginia Beach, VA) – Grommet Island Park located on 2nd Street by the boardwalk will be closed beginning Monday, October 6 through Wednesday, October 8 for surface maintenance repairs. Weather permitting, the park will reopen Thursday, October 9.


Grommet Island Park is a fully accessible park, built adjacent to the boardwalk between 1st and 2nd streets allowing individuals with disabilities to easily maneuver across the beach to the ocean. Featuring soft play structures, wheelchair accessible seating, accessible surf-themed play structures and more, this 15,000 square foot accessible play area on the beach is the first of its kind in America.
