City of Virginia Beach Establishes Public Water Distribution Sites

In anticipation of power outages in the Pungo/Blackwater/Creeds area caused by Hurricane Irene, the city has established two public water distribution sites.  Residents in the affected areas may obtain drinking water at the following locations:

The sites will be accessible to residents 24/7. Residents will need to supply and fill their own containers.  For more information about the water distribution sites, call the Department of Public Utilities between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, at 385-4631. On weekends or after normal business hours, call 311.  Cell phone users and people outside the city limits should call (757) 385-3111.


For the most up-to-date information regarding Hurricane Irene citizens are urged to stay tuned to local television and radio stations as well as the outlets listed below:

  • City’s VBTV Channels: Cox Cable 46, 47 & 48 and Verizon Cable 45, 46 & 47 will display emergency information including our City operational status and facilities closure notices
  • Television Channels: WTKR 3, WAVY 10 and WVEC 13
