Virginia Beach Awarded Recycling Bins for Special Events

Thursday, June 19, 2014

The City of Virginia Beach has received 100 recycling bins for special events as part of the Dr Pepper Snapple Group/Keep America Beautiful Park Recycling Bin Grant program. The city was one of 26 government agencies nationwide chosen to receive the bins.

The new bins will allow organizers of large events, such as American Music Festival, to reduce the amount of trash generated by participants. The bins are available from the Virginia Beach Resort Management Office for any event that attracts more than 100 people.

Groups interested in borrowing the recycling bins for their events should call 385-4800. There is no cost for use of the recycling bins, but a fee will be charged if bins are not returned.

“The City of Virginia Beach is thankful for receiving the Dr Pepper Snapple Group and Keep America Beautiful grant for recycling bins,” said Linda S. Minner, executive director of Keeping Virginia Beach Beautiful. “As a Keep America Beautiful affiliate, one of our goals is to make recycling even more convenient and accessible to residents and visitors in Virginia Beach.”

Dr Pepper Snapple and Keep America Beautiful are providing 900 recycling bins nationwide for a variety of park settings. The grant program was open to all government agencies that own or manage parks. For a complete list of winners, visit
