Virginia Beach Residents Asked to Minimize Water Use

Irene #023 – 4 p.m.

Friday, August 26, 2011

Although the city does not expect any impacts to the public drinking water supply, citizens are urged to avoid unnecessary water use to prevent stresses on the wastewater collection system.  Due to anticipated excessive rainfall and electrical power outages, the city may experience difficulty handling the amount of sanitary sewer flows. Your assistance in lessening the load is requested.

Please postpone showers, laundry and dish washing, if possible.   Wash only full loads, do not allow water to run freely from the tap and keep showers to reasonable lengths.

Following judicious water-use practices will be greatly appreciated.
