(Virginia Beach, VA) - Looking for a few good teens to have fun & get dirty! Teens (grades 7 - 12) are invited to assess the recycling efforts at Mount Trashmore Park at the Earth Day Celebration on Saturday, May 3 though a “dumpster dive.” Working in teams (and using provided safety equipment), teens will collect items from the trash bins and recycling dumpsters. They will sort and weigh items, and make recommendations on how to improve the park’s recycling initiative. They also help educate Earth Day celebration attendees on local environmental efforts, including the plastic bag ban. Community service hours will be documented.

Participants must be in grades 7-12. Applications are available online at http://www.vbgov.com/government/offices/yoo/Documents/PGT/dumpster-dive-app.pdf  and must be submitted by April 25, 2014.
