Virginia Beach Budget Hearings Set for April 22 and May 1

​The Virginia Beach City Council will hold two public hearings on the proposed city budget for fiscal year 2014-15. They will be held: 

·         April 22 – 6 p.m. in the City Council chamber at City Hall, 2401 Courthouse Drive, second floor

·         May 1 – 6 p.m. at Kempsville High School, 5194 Chief Trail


City Manager James K. Spore announced his proposed budget on March 25. It includes $1.8 billion in operating expenses for the city and schools in 2014-15, as well as $1 billion in capital construction and maintenance projects over the next six years.

The City Council will hold workshops to discuss the budget on April 1, 8, 15 and 22. The council will hold a budget reconciliation workshop on May 6 and will vote on the budget May 13.
