For those who prefer to stay cozy inside, Virginia Beach’s variety of cultural and educational opportunities include a world-class aquarium, historic houses and museums, and holiday events at the Convention Center. Virginia Aquarium & Marine Science Center
Celebrate the holiday season with at the Aquarium. Sail with Santa, spend Sundays with Santa, breakfast with Santa – Santa is even scuba diving at the Virginia Aquarium. What’s more, it’s BOGO at the Aquarium. Give the gift of membership this holiday season. If you buy or renew a membership, you receive a membership gift certificate for half price (equal or lesser value and valid from November 1 through January 31, 2014).
32nd Annual Virginia Beach Christmas Market at the Virginia Beach Convention Center
November 29 – December 1
The Virginia Beach Christmas Market features over 250 fine artisans and crafters from more than 25 states. Since 1996, this show has been voted one of the “100 Best Classic and Contemporary Craft Shows in the United States” by Sunshine Artist Magazine. Receive 50¢ off admission by bringing a canned food donation for the Food Bank of Southeastern Virginia.
Virginia Green Conference and Green Travel Star Awards Celebration
December 3 & 4        
Visitors to Virginia care about the environment and so does our tourism industry. This two-day event at the Virginia Aquarium will feature workshops and educational opportunities for Virginia Green partners. Highlights include a green market expo, an awards luncheon and a volunteer environmental cleanup project. Space is limited, and pre-registration is preferred.
Norfolk Southern Surf-n-Santa 10 Miler
December 6 & 7
Lace up your shoes, don your best holiday costume and join J&A Racing for the 4th Annual Samuel Adams Surf-n-Santa 10 Miler, Frosty’s 5k and Rudolph’s 1k. With three different race options, there’s a chance for every member of the family to jingle bell their way through this family-friendly event. A Sports & Fitness Expo at the Virginia Beach Convention Center kicks off the festivities on Friday. A costume contest and post-race holiday party add to the merriment on Saturday afternoon. All finishers will receive a unique finisher’s medal and a gift. Pre-registration is required.   
TowneBank Holidays in the City Parade
December 7
Officially ushering in the holiday season at the Virginia Beach oceanfront, the Holiday Parade at the Beach features giant balloons, marching bands from area schools and the community, lighted floats, equestrian units, fire trucks, performing dance groups, motorcycles, and more to present a dazzling and entertaining night of fun. The fun starts at 5:30 p.m. on Atlantic Avenue at 15th Street and the route runs north to 25th Street.
Virginia Values Veterans (V3) Conference
December 10
Hampton Roads is home to thousands of highly-trained former military employees. Find out how to recruit these men and women when the city hosts the Virginia Values Veterans (V3) Conference on Tuesday, Dec. 10 at the Virginia Beach Convention Center. The interactive conference will run from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Pre-registration is required.

Last Night on the Town at Virginia Beach Town Center
December 31
Ring in the New Year and say good-bye to Virginia Beach’s golden anniversary with live music, a laser light show and more. The festivities begin in the afternoon at Pembroke Mall with entertainment for the whole family, including a kid friendly countdown at 5 p.m. The adult fun continues into the evening with live music by Carbon Jam, Cheap Thrills and the headlining band the Gin Blossoms at Town Center. A midnight countdown will ring in 2014.
