City of Virginia Beach Thanksgiving Holiday & Waste Collection Schedule

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — November 19, 2013 — Solid waste and recycling collection will not be provided Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 28. Instead, residents who would normally receive city trash and recycling services on Thursday, Nov. 28 will instead receive service on Saturday, Nov. 30.

 

The following facilities will close early Wednesday, Nov. 27 and be closed Thursday and Friday, Nov. 28 and 29:

  • The Virginia Beach Circuit Court, General District Court, Juvenile & Domestic Relations Court, the Juvenile Court Service Unit and clerk’s offices (closes at noon)
  • Virginia Beach Public Health Department (closes at noon)

The following Virginia Beach facilities will be closed Thursday and Friday, Nov. 28 and 29:

  • All City of Virginia Beach offices
  • All city community recreation centers
  • Owl Creek Tennis Center
  • All city public libraries (The Joint Use Library at TCC/Virginia Beach Campus will also be closed Nov. 30 and Dec. 1.)
  • Virginia Beach Convention Center administrative offices
  • Virginia Beach Farmers Market administrative office — Some merchants may be open
  • Visitor Information Center Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel
  • Visitor Information Center — Chesapeake Bay Center at First Landing State Park
  • Visitor Information Center Parks Avenue

The following City of Virginia Beach facilities will be closed Thursday, Nov. 28, but will be open for business Friday, Nov. 29, at the following times 

  • Adam Thoroughgood House and Francis Land House — 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Lynnhaven House — 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • All city parks and park facilities — 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Princess Anne Athletic Complex (PAAC) — 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.  
  • Sandler Center for the Performing Arts — Administrative offices will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., and the box office will be open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
  • Virginia Aquarium & Marine Science Center — 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. 
  • Virginia Beach Animal Care and Adoption Center 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Virginia Beach Farmers Market administrative office will be closed, but some merchants may be open

Trash and Recycling Schedule for Thanksgiving

 

The City’s Public Works Department, Waste Management Division, announces that in celebration of the Thanksgiving holiday, solid waste and recycling collection will not be provided on Nov. 28, Thanksgiving Day.  Instead, residents who would normally receive city trash and recycling services on Thursday, Nov. 28 will receive service on Saturday, Nov. 30. Residents who normally receive service on Friday will remain on their regularly scheduled day.

 

The City Landfill will be closed on Thanksgiving Day and all day Friday, Nov. 29. Operating hours for Saturday, Nov. 30 are 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
