Lynnhaven House Hosts a Night of Superstitions on Oct. 26

Monday, September 30, 2013

Celebrate Halloween with a journey to the past at Superstitions Night on Oct. 26 at the Lynnhaven House and Colonial Education Center. This family-friendly program will include a walking tour of the site, seasonal activities for all ages and refreshments. Tours will run periodically between 6 and 9 p.m.

Virginia’s early settlers brought a wide range of myths and spiritual beliefs with them. People from the past, including a wolf-trapper’s son, Stingy Jack, and Grace Sherwood, will explain some common and uncommon superstitions.

Admission for this event is $5 per person. Children 5 and under are admitted free. The Lynnhaven House is one of the oldest surviving colonial homes in Virginia, dating to 1725. The Colonial Education Center is located at 4409 Wishart Road. For more information, call (757) 460-7109 or visit
