Wednesdays this Summer are Wonderful at the Historic Houses

Monday, July 01, 2013

Summer Wednesdays are truly wonderful at the Virginia Beach Historic Houses.  Visit the Francis Land House July 10, 17, 24, and 31 at 10 a.m. for family-friendly activities that reflect everyday life in the early 19th century.

From planting herbs to marbling paper, hands-on activities will give visitors a peek at the work and play of Francis Land and other members of his household.  Visitors of all ages will learn something new while creating a memento to take home.  A different activity will be offered each Wednesday in July.

The Francis Land House was built circa 1805 and served as the residence of Francis Moseley Land, a wealthy and prominent plantation owner in Princess Anne County.  Admission to Wonderful Wednesdays is $3 per day for visitors ages 5 and older.  A tour of the historic home is included with admission to the Wonderful Wednesday program.  Reservations are not required. The Francis Land House is located at 3131 Virginia Beach Blvd. in Virginia Beach.  Please call 385-5100 or 460-7530 or visit www.museumsvb.org for more information.
