Wesleyan Drive to Close for 24 Hours This Weekend

Monday, April 29, 2013

Virginia Beach Public Works has announced that Wesleyan Drive, between the entrance to Virginia Wesleyan College (College Drive) and Baker Road, will be closed for road work for 24 hours this weekend.

Beginning Saturday, May 4, at 7 p.m., the road will be closed, and will re-open on Sunday, May 5, at 7 p.m.  Motorists will be detoured to Baker Road and Northampton Boulevard, respectively.

Construction crews will be doing paving, grading, striping and signalization work on the closed section of Wesleyan Drive as part of the Wesleyan Drive improvements project.  Once completed, traffic will begin to use the newly configured lanes on Wesleyan Drive from Northampton Boulevard to Baker Road.

Signs will be posted in advance warning motorists of the closing.

All work is WEATHER PERMITTING.

E.V. Williams, Inc. is the prime contractor for the project.

The Wesleyan Drive widening improvements is a construction project involving the cities of Norfolk and Virginia Beach for the portion of Wesleyan Drive between Northampton Boulevard (Norfolk) and Baker Road (Virginia Beach).
