Virginia Beach Police Host a Fraud and Identity Theft Forum

Have you or anyone you know ever had their personal information compromised?  Have you ever received a check in the mail saying you’ve won money?  Have you ever received an email from someone asking you to help them get their money out of a war torn nation?  Did you know you can check your credit report for FREE?  Do you want to know how?  These are several questions that citizens might want to consider today as they protect their money and credit.

 For more information on avoiding economic crime victimization through fraud and scams, the Virginia Beach Police Department’s Economic Crimes and Crime Prevention Units are hosting a free Fraud and Identity Theft Forums on Tuesday, April 9, 2013 from 6 – 9 PM at the Meyera C. Oberndorf Central Library Auditorium, 4100 Virginia Beach Blvd. and Saturday, April 13, 2013 from 9:00-11:30 AM in the Pungo Building Theatre, Tidewater Community College, Virginia Beach Campus, 1800 College Crescent. 

Detectives from the Economic Crimes Unit will be on hand to discuss topics that will include: identity theft, internet fraud, fraudulent use of credit cards, debit cards and currency, as well as and telephone scams.
