Beach Garden Park Closed April 19-20 for Community Service Project

STIHL Inc. partners with Virginia Beach Parks & Recreation to participate in annual PLANET Day of Service

Tuesday, March 26, 2013

Beach Garden Park, located at 2854 Kilbourne Court, will be closed to the public on Friday, April 19 through Saturday, April 20, 2013, to accommodate landscaping improvements to be made through STIHL Inc.’s community service project as part of the Professional Landcare Network (PLANET) Day of Service.

The landscaping enhancements to be performed at Beach Garden Park include installing a rain garden, re-mulching the entire park, conducting trash pick-up, and addressing erosion areas around the park.

The purpose of the annual PLANET Day of Service event is to give professionals in the landscape industry an opportunity to plan, organize, and carry-out volunteer service projects that benefit their own communities. Hundreds of volunteer landscape projects take place each year at schools, community parks, military memorials, libraries, and museums across the country during this annual event. Over the past four years, STIHL employees have volunteered over 1,400 hours and saved the City of Virginia Beach over $60,000 through the company’s participation in PLANET Day of Service.
