Program: A Pirate’s Fate: The Trial of John Houghling

Date:  Saturday, July 9

Time:  2 to 4 p.m. Trial starts at 3 p.m.

Place:  Adam Thoroughgood House, 1636 Parish Road

Admission:  $3 per person, children 3 and under free

What: A reenactment of the trial of the notorious pirate, John Houghling, captured during one of history’s bloodiest pirate battles in the Chesapeake Bay in 1700.  An afternoon of living history begins at 2 p.m. as visitors   interact with people from the past concerned with the pirate terrorism that plagued Princess Anne County in the early 18th century.  Young pirates will be able to hunt for treasure and make their own pirate flag. The trial of John Houghling will begin at 3 p.m.
