Commemorate Seatack’s Rich History at the Seatack Community 200 Year Celebration

Join in the festivities at the Seatack Community 200 Year Celebration that will honor the accomplishments and impacts of the Seatack Community. A variety of activities are scheduled Friday, October 14, 2011 through Sunday, October 16, 2011, and are open to the public.



12 pm - 1 pm: Low Impact Aerobics at Seatack Recreation Center, located at 141 S. Birdneck Road. Have fun and move to the music through a variety of exercises designed to increase muscular strength and range of movement.


1 pm – 2 pm: Senior Recognition Event at Seatack Recreation Center. During this informal event, seniors will be recognized for their impact to the Seatack community. Historical photos and articles will also be on display. Light refreshments will be served.


6 pm – 9 pm: Meet and Greet Social at the Best Western Plus Oceanfront Hotel, located at 28th Street and Atlantic Avenue. Visit with others and reminisce about times gone by.




9 am – 4:45 pm: Game Room Activities at Seatack Recreation Center. Youth and their families are invited to enjoy Wii, table tennis, bumper pool, foosball, and more.


9:30 am – 3 pm: Community Day Celebration at the Law Enforcement Training Academy (the old Seatack Elementary School), at 411 Integrity Way. There is something for the whole family to enjoy, including carnival style games, kickball, inflatables, storytelling by the Virginia Beach Public Libraries, children’s craft area by A World Of Events (AWOE)/the NobelWomen Volunteers, and face painting. Kids of all ages will enjoy the Virginia Beach Fire Department’s fire truck, ambulance from the Virginia Beach Rescue Squad, and displays from the Virginia Beach Police Department, Virginia State Police’s bomb squad, and DARE. Health checks and blood pressure screenings will be provided by the First Colonial Family Practice. Food will be generously provided by New Jerusalem C.O.G.I.C. Catering.


A free shuttle will provide transportation to the Community Day Celebration from Seatack Recreation Center and the Mount Olive Baptist Church, located at 310 N. Birdneck Road. Shuttles will leave every thirty minutes. Limited parking is available at the Law Enforcement Training Academy.


10 am – 1 pm: Youth 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament at Seatack Recreation Center. Compete in a friendly basketball tournament with age divided competition: age 6 – 9, age 10-12, age 13-15 and age 16-17. Registration begins at 9 am.


6 pm – 1 am: Black Tie Gala and Dinner at the Virginia Beach Convention Center, 1000 19th Street. $45 per ticket, sold only in advance. Tickets may be purchased from



Day of Praise and Thanksgiving  Join one of the Seatack churches for Sunday service.

Please note that activities that take place at Seatack Recreation Center for the Seatack Community 200 Year Celebration are free, and do not require a Virginia Beach Recreation Center membership.
