Feb. 28 Deadline for Public Utilities’ Annual Calendar Contest

Tuesday, February 05, 2013

Thursday, Feb. 28 is the deadline for Virginia Beach elementary school students to submit entries for the Virginia Beach Public Utilities annual Water Awareness Calendar Contest.

To promote water conservation among the city’s youth, the water utility is asking teachers and parents to encourage students to illustrate different ways to use water wisely. Artwork submitted to the contest will have a chance to be featured in the 2014 Water Awareness Calendar.  All artwork must be accompanied by an official entry form, available at www.vbgov.com/pu-calendar-contest, and sent to Virginia Beach Public Utilities, ATTN: Media and Communications Coordinator, 2405 Courthouse Drive, Bldg. 2, Virginia Beach, VA 23456.

Thirteen winners and 27 honorable mentions will have their artwork featured in next year’s Water Awareness Calendar.  Each winner will receive a $50 savings bond, to be awarded by Mayor Sessoms at an official awards ceremony in the spring.

For additional information about the contest, please contact Tiffany Wright with the Department of Public Utilities at (757) 385-4948.
