Operation "Locktoberfest" Warrant Sweep

Tuesday, October 30, 2012

On Wednesday and Thursday, October 24-25, 2012, the Virginia Beach Police Department conducted the eighth annual operation “Locktoberfest.” The operation is a citywide multi-jurisdictional law enforcement warrant sweep led by the Virginia Beach Police Department’s Warrant and Fugitive Squad.  The primary goal of this operation is to locate and apprehend persons wanted on outstanding felony and misdemeanor warrants to make our city a safer community for all.

This year was another successful operation in which Law Enforcement Officers hit the streets with warrants in hand and arrested 75 people and served over 100 outstanding warrants.  Additional arrests are anticipated.  As in past sweeps, many wanted persons voluntarily surrender knowing police are on the lookout for them.

The partnership included members of the Virginia Beach Sheriff’s Office, the Chesapeake Sheriff’s Office, the Chesapeake Police Department, the Virginia State Police, the Norfolk Police Department, the Portsmouth Police Department, the Newport News Police Department, the U.S. Marshals Service and the Virginia Beach Probation and Parole Office.

Operation “Locktoberfest” is another effort of the Virginia Beach Police Department to continue keeping our community safe.
