Virginia Beach is proud of its tree canopy, but with it comes an enhanced potential for downed trees and limbs, affecting our roadways and electrical power lines.

As storm winds increase, the frequency of downed power-lines increases, and the Virginia Beach Emergency Response System may not be able to respond promptly to all requests for service. The public should be warned to treat all power lines as an energized threat.

Dominion Virginia Power is keeping us advised and is preparing its support to the city.  Currently, the company says it expects Sandy to deliver moderate impacts. Residents can track power outages at Dominion’s website: .
