Make Plans to Attend Cultural Festival Oct. 7 at Farmers Market

Friday, September 28, 2012

The Virginia Beach Human Rights Commission will host its first cultural festival, entitled “Autumn Colors – Leaves of Diversity.” This event, which is free and open to the public, will be held Sunday, Oct. 7, from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Virginia Beach Farmers Market, 3640 Dam Neck Road.

The festival will provide entertainment and education to help build a stronger and more inclusive community. In addition, the commission will sponsor a food drive to recognize World Food Day on Oct. 16, a worldwide event to increase awareness and understanding of hunger. Festival attendees are encouraged to bring non-perishable food items in non-breakable containers. Food donations will be provided to the Foodbank of Southeastern Virginia. Also, attendees will have the opportunity to become registered Virginia voters.

In case of inclement weather, the festival will be held at Landstown High School, 2001 Concert Drive.
