Francis Land House to Close Wednesday and Thursday for Construction

Tuesday, September 11, 2012

The historic Francis Land House will be closed to the public on Wednesday, Sept. 12, and Thursday, Sept. 13, for construction  work.  The Francis Land House will reopen on Friday, Sept. 14, for its regular hours of operation.

The scheduled project will replace a circa 1960 flat roof that covers the primary public entrance and gift shop area.  This section of the complex is a modern addition that was constructed when the building served as the Rose Hall dress shop. Replacement of the other roof areas took place in 2002.

The house is a circa-1805 plantation home that was built by Francis Moseley Land.  The museum is open six days per week for tours and special educational programs.  The Francis Land House is located at 3131 Virginia Beach Blvd.  For more information, call (757) 385-5100
